Your Outer World is a Reflection of Your Inner World

Unless you learn to face your own shadows, you will continue to see them in others, because the world outside you is only a reflection of the world inside you.

Do you know people (maybe even yourself at times) who blame others for all their problems?  It’s always someone else’s fault.  They don’t realize…one’s outer world is only a reflection of what’s going on in one’s inner world.

I recently came across an article by Belinda Anderson to help us understand our role in creating our outer world.

The outer world mirrors back to you your internal landscape.  Consider everything that’s going on well for you.  Consider the beauty that you see around you.  Consider the joy, love, light, and life that surrounds you.  All of this is a reflection of what’s inside you.

Now, consider the places in your life where you are struggling, where you are in judgement that the situation is not “right”.  Consider the people, relationships, darkness and situations that give you a sinking feeling in your chest or stomach when you think about them.  These too, are just mirrors of the parts of you that are waiting to be healed.

The world within orders the world without.  The world within is the cause, the world without is the effect, and to change the effect you must change the cause.

If there is chaos and havoc in your outside world, that means there is chaos and havoc in your inner world.   If there is very little love in your outside world, that means you have very little love in your inner world.

Think about that for a moment. Describe to yourself your outside world.  Now look deeply inside of yourself and have a good look at your inner world.  Can you see how your inner world reflects on the outside world?  If you have conflict, struggle, hate, anger, depression, and low self-esteem on the inside, you will find that it will manifest and become part of your outside.

The way to get control of your outside world is not to try to control the outside world.  We know that doesn’t work.  The way which gives you lasting results controlling the outside world is to start getting control of your inner world where you have the power.  Since you do not have power over others in the outside world, your focus is to work on staying in control of your inner world.

This process allows us to stop looking outside of ourselves as to why things are happening and instead, turn within for the answers.  It’s not always easy to accept and act on our problems so that we can heal the unhealed parts within us.  Fear sometimes prolongs the process (when we are not ready to face it!).  Life certainly is a learning journey, right?

Our job now…is to take a look at our outside world and see how it connects with what’s going on within. Let’s look at love…Do you have very little love in your life (external world).  What stories have you made up within you about love?  It’s too hard, I’m scared, I’m not worthy, opening my heart up to someone will make me vulnerable, I’m not willing to get hurt, I don’t trust anyone etc.  If you want love, you must fill yourself up with love and by doing so your inner world will become a magnet to the outer world for love.  Make sense?

Anytime you run into a problem…take some time to meditate on connecting the inner and outer worlds.  You are your own deliberate creator…what do you want to create?

To change my life on the outside, I need to first change it on the inside
