The Power of Your WHY

“The 2 most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why”. ~ Mark Twain
Last week we talked about how your WHY is like a natural law, like the Law of Attraction, that still affects your life if you know/understand it or not. Your WHY is the cornerstone of your life.
- • WHY you do what you do.
- • What you are compulsive about.
- • Your cause.
- • The reason you get up in the morning.
- • How you are hardwired.
- • What makes you special.
- • How you think.
- • What you believe.
- • What people can count on you for.
Your WHY is your personal Wi Fi. Many of us have Wi Fi in our homes. What do we use it for? We use it for connecting, we use it for syncing, and we use it for broadcasting our message and sharing information.
The stronger the signal…the better the connection, right? It’s the same thing with your personal Wi Fi…Knowing your WHY.
When you know your WHY, the benefits are amazing.
When you know your WHY – you understand yourself and others. Everything just makes sense when you know your WHY. It’s like being reintroduced to yourself – you understand the decisions you have made and the decisions you will make – you understand why you do what you do! And knowing your friends’ and family members’ WHY’s allows you to understand them in that same way – you just “get them!”
When you know your WHY – you gain clarity and confidence. Remember when we talked about not knowing your WHY and how it is like driving in the fog–how hard it is to move forward – to know where you are going and enjoy the ride? It’s like the fog has been lifted and suddenly your life makes sense to you. You become clear on who you are and what you bring to this world – and that gives you confidence. People tend to walk differently – they talk differently – they see things differently when the fog is lifted!
When you See Clearly – you can move in the direction of your Vision with confidence and certainty.
When you know your WHY you know how you fit. Everyone inherently wants to know how they fit into this world–why are they here?
Here’s an example… Andrew. We did a WHY Discovery Workshop in Kansas City for a small company with 17 employees. Andrew was a guy who walked into the office with his eyes down, hardly ever spoke with anyone and the rest of the team regarded him as the odd ball, the weirdo, the strange duck—and for sure, the outcast. They didn’t understand him and vice versa—he was just bizarre. Until we did his WHY—and in a few short minutes, his life changed. Andrew, like Steve Jobs, had the WHY of Think Differently and Challenge the Status Quo and by discovering that, for the first time in his life, he understood himself—his life made sense, why he was just different—because that’s how he is wired. Equally important, his team now understood him as well. He went from being the weirdo outcast, to being the cool guy that “thinks outside the box”. For the first time, Andrew’s colleagues saw him for who he really was, a person with innovative ways of looking at things, a groovy perspective. Now when they need fresh ideas or a new take, they can go to Andrew.
