Just Horsin’ Around

“Horses carry the wisdom of healing in their hearts and offer it to any humans who possess the humility to listen.” – Tackfully done

Horsin Around

Back in the day – my teenage years – we all had lots of cool ideas but not much money. We would hang out together at the Dairy Queen, or the drive-through, or outside the local movie theater. My Dad didn’t approve of our “loitering” and loved to say, “Cathy, I wish you would quit just “Horsin’ Around” and just do something with your time.”

“Horsin’ Around” became a kind of negative phrase to me. “Horsin’ Around”, changed its connotation about a month ago.   In mid-September, it took on a whole new meaning; one of wonder, healing and amazement.

That’s when I accompied a few friends on an adventure to meet the healing horses at Serendipity Stables, (www.serendipitystables.org) in West Mansfield, Ohio.

A bit of background on Serendipity Stables from their website.

“Serendipity Stables is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving those in need for 20 years. Community outreach programs and initiatives are designed to help autistic, traumatized and fragile children and adults improve their quality of life.

Over the years, hundreds of children and adults have experienced benefits in some way from the Healing Horses and Dr. Michele Davis’ philosophy of specialized care for each and every person who walks through the stable doors. The assistance for those who come to the stables and work with the horses and staff comes in many forms and in many areas of a person’s life. This may include emotional, physical and nutritional assistance, depending on the needs of each individual. Serendipity Stables is an amazing healing and wellness center.”

As a life time animal lover, I couldn’t wait to see the horses, but had no idea of the impact they would have on me.

A few minutes after entering the stables, a beautiful and gentle horse walked up to me. Her handler and animal communicator asked me if I would like to have “Maille” (Irish-Gaelic spelling, pronounced “Molly”) work with me.

I eagerly shook my head “YES”, as she told me a little about the healing horse. Maille had been at Serendipity Stables since 1999 and was 19 years old. She was a descendent of the famous race horses Secretariat and Jan Dan (the most famous racing mare in history). Maille was half Thoroughbred and half Appaloosa.

She went on to say that Maille was an unusual healer in that her greatest skill was Remote Healing. When the handler would show Maille a photo of her client, Maille would enter a deep healing trance and transport herself to the client. She then gave me a few examples of Maille’s work and asked me, “Do you have any questions for Maille?”

I just stood there with my hands on Maille’s neck (photo above) too stunned to say anything. Maille must have understood my amazement because she turned her head and stared directly into my eyes. That was a bit mystical! She then turned back to her handler and both were quiet a moment.

Maille’s handler and communicator, took a deep breath and said, “Your health concerns worry you. They need not do so. Just keep doing what you planned and you will be fine.”

Whoa! I have been having back pain for the past 6 months (living with 2 previous back surgeries in 2012) and have received an MRI to discover I have several disc problems. I had scheduled an appointment with a pain management specialist in 2 weeks.

Maille continued that I needed to stop second guessing myself and that I had all that I needed to achieve my goals. I just needed to focus on one thing at a time, gain clarity and move forward.

Did Maille read my book? How did she pick up on that? I simply need to continue to “Walk My Talk”. Like I always say, “I am a work in progress.”

Does God and the Universe work through animals? Who knows? Was the message too vague and I just filled in the blanks to fit me? Who knows? All that I know is that I felt calm, and connected to my higher self from the experience.

Thank you Maille and thank you Serendipity Stables.

P.S. Two weeks later I followed Maille’s advice and went to my pain management appointment having 2 injections in my back…and feel a great deal better.

If you are in the Ohio area, Serendipity Stables has an Open House the 2nd Sunday of each month from 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. Come and experience it for yourself.
