Have No Regrets

“No regrets in life, just lessons learned.” ~ Kishandwizdom

Well, we are 3 months into 2017. How is it going so far? If it isn’t going as well as you would like, let’s take a few minutes to think deep about things that can make a true difference in your life.
As you think back on the past year, don’t think about what you didn’t accomplish.

Don’t get discouraged with the mistakes you made.

Don’t beat yourself up about the past.

Also, don’t set yourself up for disappointment. Rather than doing what everyone else does and setting the same old goals everyone else does, be different.

The Abundance Project offers another goal for you to work on this year that’s a bit outside the box:

I think all of us are guilty at one time or another of looking back on our lives with some form of regret for something we did or didn’t do.

It could have been someone we hurt, or something we failed to accomplish. But, what we too easily forget is that regret does not benefit us in any way.

It only slows our progress and hampers our ability to accomplish the things we really want to do.
If you feel this way, you are hardly alone. A lot of people cling to their mistakes and just can’t seem to get over them.

They continuously replay regretful scenarios over and over until it seeps poisonous thoughts and feelings into their hearts and minds.

This affects every aspect of their lives, and causes them to fall short of their fullest potential because they let the past get the best of them.

Don’t fall into this trap.

Don’t allow regrets to overcome you and muddle your ability to perform the way you want to. Are you going to waste all that time and all those opportunities looking back and wishing that things were different? You don’t have enough energy to devote to both harboring regrets, and desiring self-improvement. You can’t do both.

So, the choice is yours. If you want to get unstuck from the stagnant cesspool of the past, then it’s this simple…let go of regret. It does you no good. No amount of stewing, wishing, wondering, replaying, or reminding of past mistakes, past failures, past frustrations, will ever have the ability to change what happened, or to change what WILL happen.

Only looking forward, moving forward, and focusing forward can change your destiny.

Look forward and let go of the things you can’t control

If you do a survey of all happy people or people who are content, most of them would give you the answers that would lead to one conclusion. The conclusion is simple: they feel a sense of control. People who feel content, who feel happy, who feel that they are living life to their fullest potential, feel that they are in control of their lives.

This doesn’t mean that they are in absolute control of every single thing that happens to them. But it does mean that they are in control of how happy they are at any given moment.

This is a very important element that is missing with people who are constantly regurgitating the past. As long as they are looking backward, they’re cannot be in control.

What controls them is the past.

Do you see how impossible that is? Can you imagine trying to drive a car without looking forward?

If you are always looking in the rearview mirror, or turning your head backwards, you will never be able to steer yourself in the direction you want to go.

When you decide to let go of regret and turn your eyes forward with both hands on the wheel and both eyes on the road, you regain control and you are able to drive any direction and go anywhere you please.

Though you will never change history, you CAN change how you feel about the past. Always look forward and celebrate the things you learned from what happened in the past.

Embrace the fact that you are better for it.

Move on to new possibilities

What makes life worth living is a sense of possibility.

When you wake up each day, you can mold your destiny, you can create new realities, you can set new directions, you can make things happen. Unfortunately, too many people wake up each day thinking about all the bad stuff that happened yesterday and previous days.

Do you see how fruitless and futile this can be?

If you want to live every day with the maximum amount of success, maximum amount of happiness and enjoyment, focus on the realm of possibilities that each day presents you.
Each day is an opportunity.

Don’t waste it thinking back about stuff you can’t control or stuff you can’t change. Don’t flush progress down the toilet by thinking about things that happened, or things you should or shouldn’t have done.

Take the lesson from it, and move forward with a renewed sense of what you can improve and change in the future.

Here’s to the rest of 2017…

“Never regret…If it’s good…it’s wonderful and if it’s bad…it’s experience.” ~ Victoria Holt

Starting today, I am looking forward and focusing on the possibilities ahead

I release the things from the past. No regrets!

Imagine how you would feel if you knew you could create life however you wanted.
