Take Time for YOU!

I just came back from a glorious “Goddesses Arising” weekend with Christy Whitman in Arizona last month. It was awesome.
I got to enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather and landscape with 50 of my closest “soul sisters”, while we worked on understanding the Goddesses within all of us. What an enlightening and amazing bonding experience. I go on these types of retreats 2-3 times a year.
But….I remember when I was raising 2 daughters as a single Mom…and a weekend retreat to Arizona or anywhere for that matter, would have been as likely as going to Mars. So…how can you take time for you in an often busy and hectic life? What can you do to be good to yourself and inspire yourself daily?
Well…make a list of little things you love to do, things that make you feel fulfilled and successful. This list can be short or as long as you would like it to be.
When my life was complete chaos…oh I remember it well. I showed up to work one day with a navy and a black shoe on…and that was on a good day! During that part of my life…I would try to lie in bed for just a few minutes after the 6:15 A.M. alarm and count my blessings and plan my day…setting my intention for happiness and balance. That always made me feel ready for whatever the day would bring.
Taking a little time for yourself does not have to cost a lot of time or money. For me it would be a simple as taking my dogs for a walk while my girls did their homework after dinner. I enjoyed the nature, it cleared my head and I felt a real bond with my collie dogs.
Once in awhile I would take a long hot shower and just enjoy the silence instead of my usual 3 minute in and out. Sometimes I would call a friend and just laugh at our day. Having a sense of humor and the ability to not take myself too seriously was a life saver. Meditating or just sitting quietly with my eyes closed, after the girls went to bed would give me a sense of calm and balance.
There are so many things that you can do that don’t take a lot of time or money. All that is important is that you enjoy doing it… and remember YOU ARE WORTH IT!
So make a list …and commit to take time for you! You will love the results. I guarantee it!
