Release – Receive – Renew: My Walk in the Desert

“The point of the maze is to find it’s center. The point of the labyrinth is to find your center.” ~ WordPress.com

I recently returned from a “Goddess Rising” weekend at the Spirit in the Desert retreat in Carefree, Arizona. What a wonderful and inspiring weekend. The name says it all… “Carefree”.

I was with a group of 14 Law of Attraction coaches (Goddesses), raising our vibrations and discovering our true Goddess selves. I am still basking in the glow of their combined energy as I am writing this on the flight home to Ohio.

One of the weekend’s special events was to experience the labyrinth in the desert. That’s me, arms raised in grateful appreciation, standing in the center of the labyrinth.

A labyrinth is a sacred design. It’s unicursal – meaning it has a single pathway walking in and out.

Unlike a maze, it does not confuse as you cannot get lost. It offers only one profound choice, one path.

It is designed to be a silent walking meditation, providing a moving spiritual experience.

Walking the labyrinth is a “3- fold path”. Stage 1 (the left side) is the path of releasing, letting go. It produces the opportunity for emptying oneself of worries and concerns.

The 3rd stage is one of renewing and integrating those insights gained during the center meditation. One begins to walk, completing the right side of the journey focusing on manifesting into our physical world what one received while in the center.

The entire process usually takes 20-30 minutes and is done is complete silence. The only sound is the crunching of the stones along the path and the birds singing above. When experienced in a group (such as with our Goddesses), the energy is heightened and the results are greatly expanded.

As I was completing my labyrinth trek, I thought how much this experience was symbolic of life. The first half of life is often filled with worry, fear (left side) until we discover our spiritual core (center). We continue to develop at our own pace, giving our lives clarity and meaning.

With this illumination, we continue our life journey (right side) becoming grounded, integrating both the spiritual (inside) and physical (outside) parts of ourselves.

There are 3 stages, but only one path. How we travel our one path may be different for everyone. There’s always one approach, a “3-fold path”, to spiritual abundance.

“For me, prayer is walking. Every step is a prayer. The way unfolds, and all it asks is trust and humility. The road always leads home. Step by step.”  ~ Ailsa Piper

  1. You look absolutely radiant in this photo Cathy. I love your definition of walking and experiencing the labyrinth (versus a maze where one can get lost) and then comparing it to personal growth in life. How touching.
Anytime you are surrounded by Goddess Energy, you know it’s all going to be good, and to get better. Thanks for sharing! Hugs. And I agree with Lola–I look forward to the Business Event in August.
