Happiness-Rules-Part-3“You can be happy where you are”
~
Joel Osteen

We are coming into the home stretch with the final 2 Happiness Rules.

So far we have:

1. Make peace with your past. So it won’t disturb your present.

2. What other people think of you is none of your business.

3. Time heals almost everything. Give it time.

4. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

5. Don’t compare your life to others and don’t judge them. You have no idea what their journey is about.

6. Stop thinking too much. It’s O.K. not to know the answers, they will come to you when you least expect it.

Boy oh boy…that used to be me! Analyze, analyze, analyze, have Plan B – D ready, having to have all the answers right now! Why do we do that? The reason is simple…Lack of Trust. I was so concerned with anticipating each move, stressing over…”Knowing the plan”, I was not open to the guidance the Universe was trying so patiently to give me.

It’s O.K. not to know all the answers right now – you only need the immediate information, not all of it. Set your intention, get out of your own way, (stop thinking, worrying, stressing) and TRUST the Universe will deliver.

Think for a moment, when you order a pizza – you don’t worry and stress when or how it will arrive (which route the delivery man takes). You just phone in your order and allow the Universe to deliver. The same goes for life. Pizza and Life (now I am getting hungry).   Just put in your order (your intention) and allow and TRUST it will be delivered. Stop thinking too much.

7. Smile. You don’t own all the world’s problems.

We have all heard that it takes more energy and more work to frown rather than smile. So why not smile? It’s the one thing we can do that’s easy and conserves energy!

Ever notice that when you are out shopping and you smile at the sales clerk…what happens? I notice that 99.99% of the time, they smile back…and for that split second – you both feel happy. It’s hard to feel bad when you are smiling…it just doesn’t compute. Smiling is easier and it makes you and everybody around you feel happy…that’s a Win – Win situation.

Try this, the next time you go out, smile at everyone you meet and check out the results. My goal in life is to be happy. It trumps all else. I hope we share this happiness goal – because happiness is contagious. Let’s spread happiness all around.

The way to happiness, in addition to the 7 Happiness Rules is to truly know yourself – to Know Your WHY. Knowing your WHY is like turning on the lights to your behavior, you gain instant clarity, like being reintroduced to yourself. You begin to understand why you made the choices you made as well as the choices you will make. When you know what your value is, what you bring to the table, and what people can count on you for, your world begins to make more sense.

Next Week: What exactly is your WHY?
